Pre-tilt, also know as "Dump", is the degree to which the chair seat is tilted when in most upright position. The number of degrees of variable tilt varies from 0 to 42 degrees using pre-tilt. Pre-tilt can help by ensuring the client never be brought fully upright. In clients who lack abdominal strength to keep their spine in line, their spine collapses into a scoliosis and/or kyphosis when brought fully upright. Using pre-tilt will help protect them from spinal collapse.
